About the Role
The Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a Database Engineer/Python Developer to support the Analytic Support to Force Planning (ASFP) program at our Alexandria, VA location. This critical role contributes to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE) Joint Data Support (JDS)-working alongside DoD military planners, modeling and simulation analysts, and data acquisition specialists to transform complex data into actionable insights.
As a Database Engineer/Python Developer, you will play a pivotal role in strategic and operational planning, warfighting analysis, and military research-directly shaping decisions that influence budgets and future capabilities for DoD senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain a data library to support advanced analytics.
Enable analysts to extract and process critical source data, creating tailored data products.
Build scalable data storage infrastructure and streamline data transformation processes.
Maintain relational database structures and metadata to optimize studies and analyses.
Automate data extraction and transformation workflows to ensure repeatability.
Provide technical support to analysts, enabling seamless data access and utilization.
Perform data validation and verification, ensuring integrity for DoD-directed studies.
Support data aggregation, modeling, and simulation tools for military planning efforts.
Utilize AI/ML techniques to optimize forecasting, inventory management, and analytics.
Collaborate across Joint Staff and DoD to ensure data alignment with mission objectives.
What You Need to Succeed
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (years of relevant experience may substitute for degree).
8+ years of experience in database architecture, design, and advanced analytics.
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance (SCI eligibility required).
Expertise in object-oriented programming, database management, and data transformations.
Familiarity with DoD Modeling & Simulation applications.
Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to tackle complex DoD data challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of leadership experience in DoD force sizing, shaping, and capability analysis.
Expertise in big data processing, forecasting, optimization, and supply chain analytics.
Advanced statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and AI-driven algorithms.
Proficiency in Git for version control and collaboration.
Understanding of DoD-compatible cloud platforms and war-gaming simulations.
