As a Material Flow Engineer, for the John Deere Horicon Works located in Horicon, WI, you will support the strategic alignment of material flow processes and strategies within the factory.
Responsibilities:
Lead and facilitate projects of moderate scope supporting material movement, storage and presentation.
Train stakeholders on material flow processes and tools.
Support continuous improvement for material handling and the factory.
Innovate material flow strategies across all production lines to enhance efficiency and safety.
Work closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering and Production Planning to support processes and analysis related to warehouse, transportation, and inter-factory logistics.
Support the factory continuous improvement, 5S and visual factory initiatives.
Support Lean Methodologies related to material flow part storage, conveyance and presentation.
Manage warehousing storage strategies for both fixed and dynamic storage. To include bin assignment, plan for every part and capacity management.
Support various continuous improvement projects throughout the facility related to containers, conveyance, part presentation and material handling.
Support automation and robotic solutions within material handling. Manage daily robot missions, maintenance, and execution.
Define appropriate materials presentation strategy and replenishment methods across the NAO region.
Coordinate the physical set-up of Material Flow layout areas.
Lead and develop methods for improved inventory accuracy and physical inventory processes.
Streamline Material Delivery
Design, prototype, and implement material flow options.
Incorporate visual signals into kitting operations.
Design and implement an engineered dock door to point-of-use material handling process, including dock door utilization, transport mode, transport path, line side location, and returns cycle and path.
Design optimized models for inbound and outbound logistics networks.
Why is the role critical?
We have a current gap in daily roles and responsibilities that support daily production. These responsibilities include daily support of the:
CI process and executing projects related to containers, material movement, handling and storage, process efficiency and waste elimination.
Support relocating an assembly dept within the factory (024) in the next 3 months. This includes layout and part placement for bulk and tote materials, defining a changeover strategy, and supporting processes.
Daily execution and maintenance of our large robot part delivery missions, ensuring the robots run their missions and return home.
Maintain our tools and systems including repack database, part ordering tool, RFID association and robot missions, triangle audits and material change location requests.
Without this role filled, we run the risk of not having the manpower to adequately support moving our assembly dept and supporting CI.
