Job Overview:
Join the Reality Labs Research Sensors and Systems team as a Camera Electrical Engineer, where you'll play a key role in developing advanced camera module technologies for next-generation image sensors. You'll be responsible for electrical design and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative camera hardware platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end development of camera module electrical subsystems, including HW-SW integration and validation from concept through manufacturing release.
  • Design, layout, and test camera board FPCs and schematics.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation such as subsystem requirements, test criteria, BOMs, and DFMEAs.
  • Evaluate vendor design proposals, document test methodologies, define component qualification criteria, and support system validation and quality control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish characterization and measurement processes.
  • Perform subsystem bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct failure-mode analysis, root-cause diagnosis, and system-level problem solving throughout project phases.
  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering contact for module integrators in Asia.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.
  • Proficiency in PCB and FPC design and review, including schematic development using EDA tools.
  • Hands-on experience with imaging hardware, such as 2D cameras (RGB, mono, stereo), sensors, and optical components.
  • Familiarity with high-speed serial camera electrical interface standards (I2C, SPI, MIPI), including design, testing, and implementation.
  • Experience in camera electrical subsystem design, testing, and/or system integration, with an understanding of optical systems, lens theory, focal length, aberrations, and optical metrology.
  • Proven ability to work with internal engineering teams (mechanical, software, optical) and external vendors to drive projects forward.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with consumer electronic camera modules.
  • Knowledge of optical image stabilization techniques, IMU sensor technologies, and related performance trade-offs.
  • Experience with automation, signal processing, and data analysis tools (Python, Matlab, JMP).
  • Background in camera integration, fabrication, and validation processes.
  • Familiarity with camera technologies and camera module/IC design.
  • Experience collaborating with JDM, ODM, and CM partners.
  • Understanding of EMI and ESD risks and mitigation strategies.
