Job Title: Project Coordinator / Project Engineer - Construction

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Project Coordinator / Project Engineer to oversee interior renovation and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) projects. The successful candidate will coordinate project activities, manage schedules, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee contractors to ensure timely and quality project delivery. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, prioritize, and manage project schedules for interior finishes, including painting, flooring, ceiling replacements, and associated MEP upgrades.
  • Coordinate all project activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and communication with clients, end-users, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure that infection control risk assessments (ICRA) and preconstruction risk assessments are completed prior to project initiation, adhering to all regulatory standards.
  • Oversee project execution from start to finish, validating contractor invoicing and verifying that all work complies with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate contractor performance, addressing any issues or concerns in collaboration with the Facilities Engineering leadership.
  • Manage permit processes, including pre- and post-inspection activities, ensuring all active permits (ICRA/PCRA) are properly closed and all work above ceilings meets regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including project records, permit compliance, and safety documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the facilities and construction department.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience managing or supervising minor renovation projects in a commercial or institutional setting.
  • Preferred: Three (3) years of experience in hospital or healthcare construction/renovation.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic proficiency with computer software relevant to project management (e.g., MS Office, project scheduling tools).
  • Knowledge of hospital utility systems, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements related to healthcare facility renovations.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for clear, professional interaction with staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and work collaboratively while maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset, eager to expand expertise in plant operations and construction management.
