About the Role

Our Infrastructure team (Production Operations) is made up of passionate, experienced professionals who excel at running, managing and scaling of large-scale web operations and systems administration. The team works closely with the rest of our Engineering and InfoSec organizations to ensure that the platform powering LendingClub remains reliable, performant and secure, 24x7.

As a Sr Systems Engineer, you will take an active role in designing and building the systems, tools, and services delivering LendingClub's next generation cloud platform. You will be challenged with everything from infrastructure tooling, automation, build and deployment pipelines, monitoring and logging architecture, containerization and more. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and evolve our production cloud systems infrastructure, strategically employing automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC). Use depth of cloud experience to put together elegant designs that the team will enjoy supporting
  • Partner cross-functionally with Infrastructure, Engineering, and Security teams to design, deploy, and maintain cloud solutions that meet internal standards and industry best practices
  • Expertise in incident and problem management including timely problem identification, successful resolution, and root-cause analysis
  • Continuously improve deployment, configuration, and monitoring capabilities by anticipating growth and staying ahead of industry trends
  • Tackle complex challenges to improve platform reliability, resiliency, and scalability in a regulated, high-traffic fintech environment
  • Foster a culture of collaboration through excellent documentation, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of team members
  • Ensure service level objectives through proactive monitoring, custom tooling, and on-call support/troubleshooting

About You

  • 6+ years of expert Linux and Windows System Administrationexperience (CentOS, Amazon Linux, Windows Server 2019+)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or related field; or related work experience
  • 4+ years of experience working directly with AWS Infrastructure services; AWS Certification preferred; strong knowledge of AWS services and security required
  • Experience with automation frameworks/tools like Git, Jenkins, Terraform, Packer is a MUST
  • Experience with application delivery platforms for load balancing, caching, compression, application firewalling, reverse proxy, SSL termination, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (design, deployment, and operations) in production environments
  • Fluency with one or more current generation scripting language used by DevOps professionals (Python, Bash / Shell, Ruby)
  • Monitoring and logging experience in any of the following: Prometheus, Splunk, Syslog, OSSEC/Wazzuh, CloudWatch
  • You have experience supporting high traffic and public facing websites, applications, and services that span multiple data-centers and cloud environments
  • You possess exceptional communication skills - written and verbal - and can communicate cross functionally with both technical and non-technical audiences

Work Location
San Francisco, Lehi

The above locations are eligible offices for this role. The locations have been determined to foster in-person collaboration with this role's team or the related business lines. We utilize a hybrid work model, and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In-person attendance is essential for this role's success, and remote placement will not be considered. LendingClub offers relocation, based on actual job level.

Local hours (PT, MT)

While the position will primarily work local hours, LendingClub is headquartered in Pacific Time and our ideal candidate will be flexible working across time zones when necessary.

Travel Requirements
As needed travel to LendingClub offices and/or other locations, as needed.

Compensation
The target base salary range for this position is 158,000-200,000. The base salary of the role will be determined by job-related knowledge, experience, education, skills, and location. Base salary is just one part of LendingClub's Total Rewards package. You may also be eligible for long-term awards (equity) and an annual bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings).
