Telecommunications Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate an agency s telephone requirements to determine the number of telephone stations, projected telephone traffic, and necessary telephone features.
• Evaluate the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of agency telephone systems.
• Serve as liaison between the agency and telephone vendors to determine requirements.
• Assist the agency in preparing requests for proposals, conducting technical bid evaluations, and making recommendations.
• Negotiate with vendors regarding products and services offered.
• Coordinate work performed by telephone vendors and the agency to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
• Maintain communication with agencies to ensure telephone services meet operational needs and resolve deficiencies.
• Attend industry seminars and training to stay current with telecommunications developments.
• Provide expert analysis for configuration, installation, and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide training to technicians and staff.
• Perform other assigned duties.

• Valid driver s license.
• Ability to lift and carry items.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Willingness to travel.

• Bachelor s degree in a business-related field.
• Associate degree and related job experience may substitute for a bachelor s degree.
• Associate degree with three years of job-related experience or high school diploma with five years of job-related experience accepted.
• Training hours required for the position.
