Job Details
Job Title : Data Modeler
Location : Remote - 25% travel to client site, all expenses paid as incurred.
Duration : 12+ Months
Key Responsibilities:
Data Modeling & Taxonomy Development:
- Design and maintain logical and physical data models for the UNS, including hierarchical topic structures, metadata schemas, and contextual relationships.
- Apply ISA-95 and other relevant standards to ensure consistency across equipment, processes, and enterprise functions.
- Model real-time data using Sparkplug B or similar protocols for semantic interoperability.
Namespace Governance:
- Define and enforce naming conventions, tag standards, and data object hierarchies within the UNS.
- Manage changes to data models in collaboration with IT/OT stakeholders, ensuring alignment with data governance policies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with automation engineers, IT teams, data scientists, business analysts, and manufacturing personnel to translate operational requirements into semantic data models.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for contextual data structuring in MQTT-based architectures.
Quality & Optimization:
- Monitor and ensure data integrity, consistency, and completeness across all layers of the namespace.
- Recommend improvements for namespace performance, usability, and scalability.
Documentation & Training:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of models, metadata, and semantic structures.
- Provide training and ongoing support to teams utilizing data from the UNS.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as an Information Architect or Data Modeler, particularly in building and documenting semantic data models.
- Strong understanding of MQTT, Unified Namespace (UNS), and related technologies including Sparkplug B.
- Hands-on experience with SCADA, MES, ERP, and cloud data integration.
- Experience in the manufacturing operations management domain (Maintenance, Production, Quality, Logistics).
- Expertise in object-oriented data modeling, namespace design, and metadata management.
- Familiarity with ISA-95 or other industrial data standards.
