Position: Configuration Manager

Location: Orlando, FL

Duration : 6 month Contract to Hire

Rate Range?: $45-55/hr

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Configuration Manager to lead a team of configuration and data managers supporting a large-scale Army Training Devices sustainment program. This role is critical in maintaining configuration control across hardware, software, firmware, and technical data packages throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in configuration management processes, tools, and standards, and will work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and sustainment teams.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Configuration Management (CM) plans aligned with industry and military standards.
  • Coordinate with system administrators to customize CM workflows and processes.
  • Establish and maintain robust change management and CSA reporting processes.
  • Manage configuration baselines across development, test, production, and fielded environments.
  • Ensure traceability and control of technical data packages and sustainment releases.
  • Oversee document and data deliverables through external portals and internal libraries.
  • Conduct baseline audits, internal CM process audits, and functional/physical configuration audits.
  • Support ERB/CCB workflows and ensure compliance with change request processes.
  • Maintain inventory and licensing control of COTS/FOSS software.
  • Integrate CM versioning with cybersecurity baselines.
  • Communicate CM status to functional and program management.


Requirements
  • Extensive experience in Configuration Management for large-scale defense programs.
  • Deep knowledge of CM standards such as EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, ISO, ITIL, and CMMI.
  • Proficiency in at least one advanced Product Data Management (PDM) tool.
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering, production, and sustainment teams.
  • Ability to train teams on CM processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


Plusses
  • Experience with tools such as Aras Innovator, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins.
  • CM certifications (e.g., NDIA, CMII).
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG).
  • Prior work with U.S. Army, Navy, USMC, or USAF.
  • Knowledge of automated deployment tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
  • Proposal and cost estimation experience.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and audit processes.
