Job Title: Senior Data Engineer (Clinical Domain)
Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite occasional visits to customer office)
Experience Level: 7 8 years

About the Role

We are seeking two experienced Data Engineers with strong skills in Python and SQL to work on data integration, transformation, and pipeline development for clinical research and medical monitoring projects. Experience with clinical data platforms such as eCDP, Medidata, or Dataverse is highly preferred.

The role requires close collaboration with clinical operations, data management, and analytics teams to ensure data is well-curated, accurate, and available for downstream AI/ML and reporting use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for ingesting and processing clinical trial data.
  • Develop and optimize ETL processes using Python and SQL for large-scale datasets.
  • Work with eCDP/Dataverse or similar clinical data systems for extraction and transformation.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with industry regulations (HIPAA, GxP).
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deliver clean and usable datasets.
  • Participate in solution design discussions with stakeholders and help troubleshoot data issues.
  • Document data flows, data models, and processes for internal and external teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 8 years of experience as a Data Engineer working with Python and SQL.
  • Strong experience building ETL pipelines and data workflows in production environments.
  • Familiarity with clinical data standards (CDISC, SDTM, ADaM) and experience with eCDP/Dataverse or similar systems.
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and query performance tuning.
  • Understanding of data governance, privacy, and security regulations in healthcare.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to be onsite in Chicago and visit customer office occasionally.
