Infrastructure Platform Engineering Lead (Director)
MUST be local to New York City, Hybrid Schedule: 2-3 days on site
Salary Range: $160k to $220k

We re looking for a hands-on and strategic Infrastructure Platform Engineering Lead to head a critical transformation within our Infrastructure Engineering and Cloud Enablement organization. This leader will evolve a legacy automation function into a modern Infrastructure Platform Engineering (IPE) team, focused on building scalable, reusable platforms that support faster, consistent, and secure infrastructure delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and lead the IPE team with a focus on infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), automation (Ansible), and self-service enablement.
- Drive platform engineering initiatives across hybrid environments (VMware, OpenShift), including reusable infrastructure pipelines and automation tooling.
- Own and operate the container platform (OpenShift), ensuring reliability, scalability, and ease of use.
- Lead Linux OS engineering efforts, with focus on automation, standardization, and compliance.
- Define and enforce coding, testing, and release standards for automation artifacts.
- Collaborate with core infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to ensure scalable and secure platform solutions.
- Mentor engineers, set technical direction, and contribute to the long-term roadmap for infrastructure modernization.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years in infrastructure/platform engineering, DevOps, or similar roles.
- Strong management or technical leadership background; must have led or mentored teams.
- Deep expertise in Terraform, Ansible, OpenShift or Kubernetes, and Linux OS internals.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Git workflows).
- Strong architecture skills and ability to deliver scalable, automated solutions.
- Proven ability to lead across silos and engage stakeholders effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with VMware/VCF and integration into automation frameworks.
- Exposure to internal developer platforms, service catalogs, or infrastructure self-service models.
- Financial services experience is a plus, but not required.
