Senior Storage Systems Engineer

Position Overview:
We're seeking a Senior Storage Systems Engineer to join a small, highly autonomous storage team responsible for both enterprise on-prem Dell storage platforms and a rapidly evolving AWS cloud storage environment. This role replaces a long-tenured senior engineer and will be critical in maintaining day-to-day storage operations while helping guide Prime?s transition from on-prem infrastructure to cloud-based storage solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role, not a pure architecture or management position. The ideal candidate brings deep Dell storage experience, solid SAN fundamentals, and emerging or established AWS storage expertise, particularly around migrations and hybrid environments.

Responsibilities:
Own day-to-day operations of enterprise storage platforms, ensuring performance, capacity, and availability
Support and administer Dell PowerMax (block) and Dell PowerScale / Isilon (file) environments
Manage NAS (NFS/SMB) replication, snapshots, backups, and disaster recovery processes
Monitor storage health, capacity trends, alerts, and vulnerabilities; execute remediation plans
Partner with cloud platform and DevOps teams on AWS storage initiatives, including:
FSx (SMB/NFS)
S3 / object storage concepts
Data lifecycle and records management considerations
Participate in and support on-prem to cloud migration efforts, helping determine:
What data moves
How much data moves
Migration tooling and approach
Maintain SAN fabric knowledge and troubleshooting capability (Cisco MDS)
Create and maintain documentation, change records, and operational runbooks Required Experience:
5+ years of hands-on storage engineering experience (senior-level capability)
Strong experience with Dell enterprise storage, including:
PowerMax (8000/8500 series preferred)
PowerScale / Isilon
Solid understanding of:
Block vs file storage
Replication, snapshots, DR strategies
Capacity planning and performance troubleshooting
Exposure to AWS storage services, such as:
FSx (Windows or Lustre)
S3 (foundational knowledge acceptable)
Experience supporting production environments with minimal supervision
Ability to clearly explain technical decisions and troubleshoot issues live
Nice-to-Have / Bonus Skills
Experience migrating data from on-prem storage to AWS
Familiarity with Dell APEX or hybrid cloud storage models
Cisco MDS SAN fabric experience
Records management or data lifecycle policy experience in cloud environments
Prior experience in regulated or large enterprise environments
