Technical Copywriter (Part-Time Contract)

Location: Hybrid - Based in St. Paul, MN (occasional onsite meetings)
Schedule: Part-Time | 20 hours/week | Flexible hours | Mon-Fri
Contract Duration: 2 years
Pay Rate: $30/hour

A Fortune 500 financial services firm is seeking a skilled Technical Copywriter to join its Customer Experience team within the Employee Benefits division. This is a part-time, fully remote contract role (with occasional in-person meetings if local) supporting a new initiative to refresh and improve customer-facing content related to group life and voluntary benefits.


What You ll Do:

  • Write and revise employee-facing service communications (e.g. claim updates, benefit explanations, policy changes).

  • Review and modernize existing correspondence to improve clarity and engagement.

  • Translate technical insurance language into reader-friendly copy.

  • Ensure brand voice and tone consistency across all communications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (CX, compliance, legal, product, and operations).


What We re Looking For:

  • Bachelor s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.

  • 5+ years of copywriting experience (preferably in insurance, healthcare, or financial services).

  • Proven ability to simplify complex concepts for broad audiences.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Familiarity with regulatory writing and compliance standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a portfolio showcasing clear, concise writing.


Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with group life or voluntary benefits.

  • Background in service correspondence or content strategy.

  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms.
