Job Title: Emissions & OBD Calibration Engineer

Location: Metro Detroit Area, MI

Duration: January 1, 2026 - December 15, 2026 (Estimated)

Project Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Calibration Engineer with a focus on emissions and OBDII systems to support warranty improvement initiatives for powertrain calibration projects. The role involves developing optimal service solutions for calibration-related warranty concerns, such as diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), through data analysis, solution development, and validation testing.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and validate calibration solutions.
  • Create and execute test procedures across various environments including:
  • Engine dynamometers
  • Emission chassis dynos
  • On-road vehicle testing
  • Analyze data and summarize findings to support calibration decisions.
  • Conduct emissions transparency testing (e.g., FTP cycles).
  • Perform fuel economy assessments to evaluate calibration impact.
  • Execute OBDII self-certification testing and provide necessary calibration tuning.
  • Support release processes and documentation for calibration updates.Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering (or related field).
    • 3-7 years of experience in powertrain calibration, emissions testing, or OBDII systems.
    • Hands-on experience with engine dyno and vehicle testing environments.
    • Familiarity with calibration tools and data logging systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
    Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with emissions certification procedures.
    • Knowledge of diagnostic strategies and fault code analysis.
    • Prior work with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers in calibration roles.
    Additional Information:

    All necessary testing equipment, vehicles, and calibration tools will be provided. The engineer will work closely with an internal calibration team and contribute to the development and validation of service-ready calibration solutions.
