Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced ServiceNow SAM SME to lead and drive Software Asset Management strategy and execution across their enterprise. This expert-level role focuses on maximizing ROI, ensuring compliance, and improving software lifecycle processes through ServiceNow SAM Pro. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of software licensing models, ServiceNow implementation best practices, and a track record of success in enterprise SAM programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary SME for ServiceNow SAM Pro, leading implementation, configuration, and optimization efforts.
  • Configure, maintain, and enhance SAM Pro features such as software discovery, normalization, reconciliation, reclamation, and license optimization.
  • Evaluate software usage and licensing models (Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, IBM, etc.) to ensure compliance and identify cost savings.
  • Collaborate with IT, procurement, finance, and security teams to align SAM initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain integrations with third-party platforms and discovery tools (e.g., SCCM, JAMF, AWS, Azure).
  • Drive continuous improvement of SAM policies, processes, and tools.
  • Develop dashboards, workflows, and reports to support license audits and executive reporting.
  • Provide training, support, and guidance to internal teams regarding SAM practices and ServiceNow functionality.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all SAM-related configurations, integrations, and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 7+ years of experience in ServiceNow platform engineering with a strong focus on SAM Pro.
  • Proven hands-on implementation experience with SAM Pro, including entitlement loading, software normalization, publisher pack configuration, reclamation policies, and audit readiness.
  • Deep knowledge of software licensing models, compliance standards, and contract interpretation.
  • Experience with ServiceNow modules such as CMDB, ITSM, Discovery, and IT Asset Management (ITAM).
  • Strong JavaScript and Glide scripting skills for developing ServiceNow solutions.
  • Integration experience using REST/SOAP APIs with external platforms (SCCM, AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and asset lifecycle management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CIS-SAM Certification highly preferred; ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and collaborative tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with a consultative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while managing multiple priorities.
