Job Title: Servicenow Catalog Specialist

Location: McLean, VA / Remote

Duration: 12 Months

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled ServiceNow Catalog Specialist with experience across Discovery, IT Operations Management (ITOM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), and Configuration Management (CMDB). This role will focus on developing and managing the Service Catalog while integrating it with ITOM and ITAM processes to support end-to-end service delivery, infrastructure visibility, and asset lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Catalog Management

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex Service Catalog items, record producers, order guides, and workflows.
  • Integrate catalog items with Discovery, CMDB, ITOM, and ITAM processes for dynamic fulfillment.
  • Automate provisioning and deprovisioning of services using Flow Designer or Workflow Editor.
  • Work closely with service owners and request fulfillment teams to align catalog items with operational processes.

CMDB & Discovery

  • Ensure catalog items contribute accurate and complete data to the CMDB.
  • Support the integration of Discovery with catalog workflows to auto-populate CI data and relationships.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Discovery jobs and probes to maintain CMDB accuracy.

ITOM (Event, Discovery, Service Mapping)

  • Collaborate with ITOM engineers to align catalog items with infrastructure automation and orchestration.
  • Support catalog use cases that trigger orchestration workflows (e.g., server provisioning, cloud resource requests).
  • Ensure new assets discovered via Service Catalog are correctly classified and mapped in Service Mapping.

ITAM (Software/Hardware Asset Management)

  • Align Service Catalog items with asset lifecycle processes (procurement, onboarding, inventory updates).
  • Integrate asset request workflows with HAM/SAM processes to ensure accurate tracking of software/hardware assets.
  • Ensure compliance with license entitlements and hardware standards via catalog-driven requests.

Governance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Adhere to ITIL and internal governance standards across all ServiceNow processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, process flows, and user guides for catalog items.
  • Generate and analyze reports to identify catalog usage trends, asset inaccuracies, and CMDB integrity issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow platform, including Service Catalog, ITOM, ITAM, and CMDB.
  • Proficient in building complex catalog items using client/server-side scripting (JavaScript), UI Policies, and Flow Designer.
  • Solid understanding of ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB data model, including class hierarchy, CI relationships, and reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow ITOM modules: Discovery, Event Management, Orchestration, and/or Service Mapping.
  • Experience integrating Service Catalog with Asset and Configuration Management processes.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required.
  • ServiceNow CIS certifications (ITSM, ITOM, Discovery, CMDB, or HAM/SAM) strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud discovery (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and service provisioning via catalog.
  • Experience with ServiceNow HAM Pro or SAM Pro modules.
  • Understanding of network discovery, MID Server configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in enterprise environments with complex IT infrastructure and governance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Agile or DevOps methodologies.
