Description
The OnStar Connected Services Systems Engineer role is a technical position responsible for ensuring that systems supporting Connected Services are functioning properly and that requests are successfully delivered to active subscribers. This resource expansion is necessary to speed up escalated case closure, enhance system monitoring, analytics, and root cause resolution capabilities for OnStar Connected Services. These technical support engineers will improve system reliability and ensure rapid resolution of customer-impacting technical issues. This would be a person with 3+ years experience supporting SQL and technical teams.
These positions support Level 1 or Level 2 escalated Connected Get Help cases to resolve system issues and are required to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of the systems that deliver OnStar Connected Services to subscribers. The individuals in this role will perform technical customer case closure, system validation, performance analysis, and/or root cause resolution activities in partnership with IT, Business Operations, and Product teams.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve Level 3 (L3) customer issues.
Design, develop, and refine system performance metrics representing service delivery.
Build and maintain reporting/analytics to measure system and customer experience.
Investigate end-to-end performance issues and apply technical analysis for resolution.
Execute root cause analyses and develop improvement plans.
Write SQL queries and leverage analytical tools (Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, etc.) to assess performance.
Document system workflows, dependencies, and validation steps.
New vehicle customers call in to the support center when technology on his/her vehicle is not working. This could be the on-star button or apps on the dashboard/screen. The customers will talk to a level 1 or level 2 support tech with the goal of getting the issue resolved in 24 hours. If it can't be solved there, it is a technology issue that this consultant will be responsible for troubleshooting. This person will not be speaking with vehicle customers, but will be relaying information to other non-technical team members. This person will be doing some SQL extraction and analysis. Including writing SQL queries, knowing the difference between inner join and outer join, understanding aggregation within SQL and knowing the difference between a CTE and a joined table.
The exposure to Power BI or Python will help with creating automation to solve problems within SQL. This person should know more about automation and bring ideas on improvement of process and thought leadership on development.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
