Overview
Join the Advanced Prototyping Center (APC), where we bring premium experiences to life through cutting-edge engineering and design. As part of our Engineering team, you'll help bridge the gap between design, engineering, and quality by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including industrial designers and various engineering teams, all supported by a world-class prototyping facility that accelerates innovation and product excellence.
As a Metrology Engineer in the APC, you will leverage advanced metrology tools to solve complex measurement challenges and bring a dimensional quality perspective to our prototyping efforts. You'll play a key role in fostering a culture of quality by equipping engineers and designers with actionable insights. Your work will also involve investigating innovative measurement techniques to support our evolving design and quality standards. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a wide range of metrology tools and methodologies, collaborate with world-class talent, and explore how metrology can be applied across diverse engineering challenges.

Responsibilities
- You will learn and understand the various metrology instruments in our lab and their capabilities and shortcomings to create measurement plans and processes to ensure quality data collection.
- You will work with engineers and designers to understand their needs and translate that to a dimensional measurement or methodology to aid decision making.
- You will coordinate and maintain our metrology lab and equipment to ensure accurate and precise data collection, including scheduling maintenance and calibrations.
- You will interpret drawings per ASME Y14.5-2009 and develop measurement plans and provide feedback to work partners.
- You will identify current trends in metrology and how the landscape is changing to make recommendations for our lab.
- You will serve as a measurement subject matter expert to consult and teach others about measurement methods and solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years related technical engineering experience
- OR Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related technical metrology experience
- OR Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- OR equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in mechanical design using CAD software
- Experience in dimensional metrology roles.
- Experience with reading and interpreting ASME Y14.5-2009 drawings.
- Experience in consumer electronics industry or prototyping industry.
- Proficiency in using some type of metrology equipment (coordinate measurement machines, profilometers, 3D scanners, etc.)
