Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support the Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP) Policy, Program, and Support area. The DBA will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the databases that underpin MATP applications and data reporting systems. This role ensures the integrity, security, and availability of critical program data that supports transportation service delivery, policy compliance, and program monitoring.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain relational databases supporting MATP applications, including installation, configuration, upgrading, and patching
- Monitor database performance and implement optimizations to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability
- Implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard MATP program data
- Collaborate with application developers, program staff, and IT teams to support data integration, reporting, and analytics needs
- Ensure data security and compliance with Medicaid regulations, privacy policies, and organizational standards
- Develop and enforce database standards, policies, and best practices for data integrity and quality
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data corruption, and access problems
- Support the design and implementation of database schemas, indexes, stored procedures, and queries optimized for MATP program requirements
- Assist in the preparation of documentation related to database architecture, configuration, and maintenance activities
- Participate in data migration and system upgrade projects relevant to MATP systems
- Stay up to date with emerging database technologies, tools, and best practices to recommend improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in healthcare, Medicaid, or public sector environments
- Strong experience with relational database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database scripts
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
- Knowledge of Medicaid data requirements, security standards, and compliance (HIPAA, CMS guidelines)
- Familiarity with data integration tools and ETL processes is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams
- Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
