Job Details

Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other's ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It's the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you'll do more than join something - you'll add something. When we talk about scale, we mean it. Our file system technologies power the persistent storage for billions of customers worldwide across our product ecosystem: Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, Mac, VisionPro, and AppleTV. To us, a filesystem is not a one-and-done type of software project: we iterate regularly to enable critical user experiences across the ecosystem, such as Apple Intelligence, media playback, and even automatic disk space management. The filesystem means a lot more than directory enumeration and assigning disk blocks to files.

Description We are seeking a talented software engineering manager to lead a team of engineers that develop filesystem and related software for local storage (including but not exclusively APFS). This will require coordination and goal-setting for new features and improvements to our file system and cross-functional development with other software teams within Apple.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in leading a low-level or system software team
  • Understanding of core OS concepts & fundamentals (such as kernel space, persistent storage and system scheduling)
  • Expert-level programming skills in C or C++
  • 7+ years of experience in system software development
  • BS in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and their applications
  • Experience with recruiting, hiring, ramping and retaining high performing SW engineers
  • Experience in performance analysis of low level systems
  • Proven data driven decision making
