Title: ED Charge Capture Specialist

Duration: 2 Months contract

Location: Broomfield, CO, 80021(Remote)

Description:

Emergency Department (ED) Charge Capture Specialist:
-Utilizes the client`s standardized point system to accurately and timely capture ED charges to reflect the volume and intensity of resources utilized by the facility to provide patient care.
-Applies client`s Charge Master, Compliance and regulatory guidelines to identify and appropriately charge for all procedures and supply charges.
-Partners with physicians, clinical departments and others to clarify documentation questions, as needed utilizing client standardized logging and communication process.
-Identifies and communicates deficiencies and trends to the ED leadership and Revenue Practice Team.
-Monitors and resolves assigned Epic work queues and billing related correspondence according to the Charge Capture and Accountability Policy.
-Identifies charge issues/opportunities and works with departments to make recommendations, resolve issues and enhance charge capture and compliance.
-Instructs clinicians, (one on one or in groups) on the charge capture process in Epic and how accurate documentation relates to accurate charge capture.
-Participates in continuing education programs to maintain an understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, disease processes and surgical techniques to support the effective application of coding guidelines and maintains professional credentials required by this position.
-Promotes mission, vision, and values of client, and abides by service behavior standards.
-Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

One (1) year of professional or facility healthcare office, medical record, technical or coding experience required.

-Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
-Must be able to navigate multiple software systems effectively and efficiently including Epic and computerized assisted coding applications.
-General software skills with Google Suite, MS Office Products, including Word and Excel.
-Utilize critical thinking skills to assign appropriate facility points and services.
-Ability to effectively communicate with medical professionals to relate charging, coding, documentation and compliance guidelines.
-Ability to interpret medical documents.
-Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in the work product.
-Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
-Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
-Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to collaborate & communicate across multiple levels of the organization.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
-Two (2) years of professional or facility healthcare office, medical record, technical or coding experience preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure:
-Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
-Registered Health Information Professional (RHIT).
-Certified Outpatient Coder (COC).
-Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
-Certified Coding Associate.
-Currently enrolled in a coding certificate program that must be completed within 9 months of employment.
