Position Overview

The IT Server Administrator II is responsible for maintaining and supporting both on-premise and cloud-based server environments, ensuring system stability, security, and performance. This role includes oversight of the company s Active Directory infrastructure, network connectivity, and backup systems, while implementing and maintaining best practices for system administration and security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, maintain, and support both physical and virtual servers.
  • Validate and monitor corporate backups to ensure successful execution and restorability; troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Develop and implement standardized server maintenance and operating procedures.
  • Manage, maintain, diagnose, and repair hardware and software within server environments.
  • Maintain a secure and healthy Active Directory environment.
  • Document server configurations, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Implement and enforce corporate security policies; escalate issues or potential security compromises as necessary.
  • Act as a technical resource for system and network-related projects.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience setting up, configuring, and supporting the latest two versions of Microsoft Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
  • Scripting proficiency in one or more of the following: VBScript, PowerShell, Perl, PHP, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, and WAN networking concepts for server troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with firewalls, proxies, and databases.
  • Experience with tape, snapshot, and cloud backup solutions.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Experience managing enterprise-level backup solutions.
  • Knowledge of capacity planning and performance monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with network performance monitoring solutions such as SolarWinds or Nagios.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN concepts including routing, VPN, and network cabling.
