Job Title: Sr. Cloud Data Engineer
Location: Quincy, MA
Duration: 6 Months
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer with deep expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines and modern cloud data architectures. The ideal candidate is skilled in both centralized and decentralized data models, understands how to tailor data ingestion patterns to different business needs, and can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This role will be responsible for driving cloud data platform design, development, and best practice establishment as part of a large-scale data modernization initiative. The successful candidate will take ownership of cloud data engineering deliverables and play a key role in establishing scalable, secure, and high-performance data systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop cloud-based data management systems that align with enterprise data modernization strategies.
Implement and optimize data pipelines across centralized and decentralized data architectures.
Ensure adherence to data security policies and standards during design and implementation of cloud-based solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect scalable, available, and high-performance cloud data solutions.
Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies, tools, and services to improve data curation, storage, and processing efficiency.
Monitor and optimize cloud data platform performance, identifying and implementing improvement strategies.
Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks and support data management best practices.
Establish and document data engineering standards, processes, and system performance assessment procedures.
Provide technical leadership for ETL design and data layer development, including review of requirements and architecture.
Lead and facilitate team design sessions to drive architectural and implementation decisions.
Deliver high-quality, timely solutions that meet or exceed business and technical expectations.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in designing and developing data pipelines, data warehousing, cloud data architectures, and ETL systems.
Proven expertise in data modeling, enterprise information systems, and system engineering.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud-based data solutions (3 5 years minimum).
5+ years of experience with Snowflake or similar cloud database platforms.
Strong understanding and implementation experience with decentralized data architectures (e.g., Data Mesh).
Proficiency in Informatica (IICS), SQL, and Python for complex data integration use cases.
Experience with GitHub (CI/CD) and Airflow for orchestration and automation.
Solid understanding of Unix/Linux systems, shell scripting, and system administration.
Experience with large-scale, multi-terabyte enterprise data platforms in the cloud.
Familiarity with storage architectures, backup/recovery, and networking fundamentals.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both business and technical audiences.
Experience handling highly sensitive healthcare data and knowledge of HIPAA and other data privacy regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Certification or Cloud Data Engineer Certification.
Snowflake Certification.
Experience with Cognos and/or Tableau for reporting and analytics.
Additional experience with Informatica (IICS) and Airflow orchestration tools.
