We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician to join our Data Center Operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems that support a global network infrastructure. You'll work in a fast-paced environment ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Job Title: Cable Technician - Data Center Infrastructure

Job Summary:
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor or indoor construction work environment
  • Self-motivated, positive in approach
  • Communicate with various customers via phone, email, fax and text while working out of multiple programs including Outlook.

Responsibilities:
  • Install and manager copper and fiber optic cabling across data center environments.
  • Perform cable terminations, labeling, and documentation in MDF/IDF rooms.
  • Execute fiber splicing (fusion and ribbon) and validate connections using OTDR and DSX testing equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints and facility diagrams to ensure accurate cable routing.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces in compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to meet deadlines and resolve issues.
  • Document installation and testing results.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with structured cabling systems (fiber and copper).
  • Proficiency in cable testing tools (OTDR, DSX) and splicing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

Nice to have:
  • Industry certifications (BICSI, FOA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in data center or enterprise-level cabling environments.
  • Familiarity with cable management best practices and documentation tools.

Contract Length: 4 month contract to hire

This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
