Project Description:

Position Overview:

  • MISO Energy seeks an experienced Technical Writer for maintaining Operating Procedures.
  • Integral in interpreting complex technical information into understandable materials.
  • The Technical Writer/Communication Analyst acts as reviewer/convener, user champion, editor, publisher, and promoter.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • This role works closely with Operations leadership and Control Center staff.

Position Duties:

  • Revise and maintain operating procedures throughout the full document lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) for content validation and approval.
  • Serve as user champion, editor, and documentation convener.
  • Coordinate efforts across departments to ensure timely delivery of high-quality documents.
  • Present technical information clearly for a variety of internal audiences.
  • Promote consistency, compliance, and usability across all written materials.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to articulate in writing detailed concepts and to present information to a variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to coordinate across the organization to complete projects on time with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide an excellent customer experience to both internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated experience with writing reports.
  • Document Management System(s)
  • Human Performance Improvement (HPI)
  • Project Management
  • Procedure Professionals Association (PPA) procedure writer certification

Nice To Have:

  • Previous energy industry experience
  • Adobe FrameMaker, or experience working in similar writing software
  • Prior experience working in a regulated environment using writing standards.
  • Understanding NERC, FERC Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or related field (or equivalent of 4 years of relevant experience).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to articulate in writing detailed concepts and to present information to a variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to coordinate across the organization to complete projects on time with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide an excellent customer experience to both internal and external clients.

  • Specific experience within any of the following:
