About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with deep expertise in AI/ML and distributed systems to join our team on a contingent basis. In this role, you will consult on complex, high-impact software engineering initiatives, contributing to the design, development, and deployment of scalable AI-driven solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve multifaceted challenges and drive innovation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and consult on large-scale software engineering projects with broad organizational impact.
• Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges involving novel or unprecedented factors.
• Design and implement AI/ML solutions using state-of-the-art technologies including LLMs, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Develop, test, and deploy machine learning models using MLOps best practices.
• Build and optimize scalable distributed systems leveraging Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, and cloud-native architectures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with business goals, compliance requirements, and technical standards.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Technical Expertise:

• Generative AI: LLMs, vector search, embedding models, RAG
• AI/ML Frameworks: Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, Spark ML, NLP (spaCy, NLTK)
• MLOps: AWS SageMaker, Ray, model lifecycle management
• Big Data & Distributed Systems: Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra
• Programming Languages: Python, Java, Scala, R, Shell
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), Microsoft Azure
• Datastores: MongoDB Atlas, Milvus, Redis, Postgres, MySQL
• DevOps & Tooling: Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Git, Linux
• Performance Optimization: Monitoring and tuning of distributed systems and applications
• Microsoft Ecosystem: Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Dynamics 365

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering or a related field, demonstrated through work, consulting, military service, or education.
• Proven track record of delivering scalable, high-performance systems in complex environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across technical and non-technical teams.
