Job Summary

The Principal Cybersecurity Architect is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of secure architectures across Carrier's global technology landscape. This role partners closely with engineering, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure that security is embedded into the design of systems, platforms, and services. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a strong understanding of enterprise and Operational Technology security architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise and OT security architectures.

  • Develop and publish security reference architectures, patterns, and standards.

  • Lead architectural reviews and threat modeling engagements across business units.

  • Provide expert guidance on secure design principles for cloud, network, application, and data systems.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their security implications.

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure secure implementation of solutions.

  • Contribute to the development of security architecture frameworks and governance processes.

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for security architecture in cross-functional initiatives.

  • Support the development of security roadmaps and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Promote the adoption of secure-by-design principles across the organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • University degree with 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, Information Technology, software development, engineering, OR Highschool diploma / GED with 4+ years of military cybersecurity training and experience.

  • 8+ years' experience with deep expertise in multiple security domains such as cloud, network, application, data, and/or identity.

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale security architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in both Information Technology and Operational Technology security environments.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Experience influencing security strategy and policy without direct authority.

  • Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK).

  • Proficiency in architectural modeling tools and documentation practices.

  • Familiarity with Zero Trust, secure SDLC, and DevSecOps principles.
