Job Title: Natural/Adabas Developer
Location: Remote (Government Client – State of Washington)
Duration: 2+ Years (Long-Term Contract)
Rate: $50 – $55/hr (W2)
Start Date: Immediate
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Natural/Adabas Developer to support and enhance mission-critical applications for a government client. The role involves application development, production support, performance tuning, and assisting with modernization and migration efforts.
Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and enhance Natural/Adabas applications (batch and online).
Write, debug, and optimize JCL scripts for batch processing.
Troubleshoot production issues, ensuring application stability and minimal downtime.
Work with DB2, CICS, and Adabas for database operations and system integration.
Participate in migration and modernization projects (data conversion, code refactoring, modularization).
Perform performance tuning, data recovery, and ensure compliance with security standards.
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
Document technical designs, processes, and changes.
Required Skills:
Hands-on expertise in Natural, Adabas, DB2, JCL, CICS, TSO, ISPF.
Strong experience in batch and online application development.
Proven ability in debugging, performance tuning, and recovery.
Experience in data mapping, integration, and file-based interfaces.
Knowledge of SDLC methodologies and government client environments.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with modernization projects (cloud, APIs, or microservices).
Familiarity with data migration strategies and enterprise-level system upgrades.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
