Summary
We seek qualified vendors to provide Database Administrator Services on behalf of the Technology Services, Technology Infrastructure Services department. The Contractor shall provide resources with the technical skills and personal leadership to perform all related services.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator with demonstrated expertise in Oracle 19c in a multitenant architecture (CDB/PDB).
- Proven experience performing hardware refreshes, including database migration and reconfiguration across environments.
- Implement Oracle DataGuard configuration using Active DataGuard and Physical Standby
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), including upgrade and configuration-must have completed or supported upgrade to OEM 24AI or similar recent version.
- Experience configuring Active Directory (AD) Authentication for Oracle databases using tools like Oracle Directory Services or Kerberos.
- Strong skills in performance monitoring and troubleshooting, including use of AWR/ASH reports, SQL tuning, and diagnostics tools.
- Solid understanding of Oracle backup and recovery (RMAN/Data Pump), patching, and high availability configurations (e.g., Data Guard, RAC is a plus).
- Proficient in Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting and automation tools.
Job Description
Environment Assessment & Documentation
- Review existing Oracle 19c multitenant architecture (CDB/PDB) setup.
- Document current configurations, database instances, and infrastructure dependencies.
- Inventory hardware and software versions.
Hardware Refresh
- Plan and execute hardware refresh for Oracle database servers.
- Migrate databases from old to new hardware with minimal downtime.
- Validate database integrity and performance post-migration.
- Update documentation to reflect new hardware environment.
Implementation of Oracle Active Data Guard (DR Solution)
- Design and plan a disaster recovery strategy using Oracle Active Data Guard.
- Install and configure a physical standby database for key production CDBs/PDBs.
- Enable real-time apply and read-only query access on standby databases.
- Implement switchover/failover procedures and test DR readiness.
- Provide DR documentation, monitoring guidelines, and training.
Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Upgrade to 24AI
- Review current OEM version and assess compatibility with 24AI.
- Perform a pre-upgrade readiness check and backup of OEM repository.
- Execute upgrade to Oracle Enterprise Manager 24AI.
- Validate functionality of monitoring, alerting, and reporting post-upgrade.
Active Directory Authentication Configuration
- Integrate Oracle databases with Active Directory for centralized authentication.
- Configure Oracle Network Authentication (e.g., Kerberos, SSL as needed).
- Implement and test user authentication using AD credentials.
- Provide documentation and training for managing AD-integrated access.
Backup and Recovery (Optional but Recommended)
- Review current backup and disaster recovery strategy (RMAN, Data Pump).
- Test backup/restore procedures on new hardware.
- Apply Oracle-recommended security best practices.
Knowledge Transfer and Documentation
- Deliver updated technical documentation for all implemented solutions.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with in-house DBAs or system administrators.
- Provide a final report summarizing all activities, risks, and recommendations.
