Overview
Experienced RF Test Engineer with Cellular Phone experience needed to develop, maintain, and improve cellular device test systems for 4G and 5G devices. The role combines hands-on RF test and automation, equipment calibration and vendor management, production support and mentorship, and continuous improvement activities focused on No Fault Found reduction.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing test plans (both manual and automated), analyzing data, debugging issues, and providing feedback to development teams. This role requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering or computer science field, strong knowledge of mobile operating systems and cellular technologies, and experience with tools like ADB, QXDM, and scripting languages such as Python.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain RF test procedures and automation for 4G and 5G device validation and production test phases.
- Operate and program Anritsu and Rohde & Schwarz cellular test platforms for conformance, performance, and production testing.
- Build, maintain, and support test automation using Anritsu M4 Automation Software and Rohde & Schwarz CMWRun.
- Participate in test capacity planning, equipment procurement evaluations, and lifecycle management of test assets.
- Triage and troubleshoot day-to-day test-floor issues; provide technical guidance and mentorship to Production Support Technicians.
- Coordinate equipment calibration schedules, manage vendor contracts for repairs and annual calibrations, and track calibration records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to investigate and reduce No Fault Found (NFF) occurrences across 4G and 5G test flows.
- Maintain clear test documentation, test data logs, and process change records; transfer knowledge to production teams.
- Communicate in a professional manner to external stakeholders such as Network Carrier Representatives and Cynergy s customers on various device performance issues.
- Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques (and other quality techniques) to monitor test metrics, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Telecommunications, or related technical field.
- Excellent knowledge in PC OS software (Windows) configuration as well as troubleshooting skills for I/O issues (TCP/IP, Drivers, Data Corruption, and Faulty Hardware).
- Minimum 5 years hands-on RF test engineering experience with cellular phones or wireless devices.
- Demonstrated experience with Anritsu and/or Rohde & Schwartz cellular test equipment and Anritsu M4 Automation Software or Rohde & Schwartz CMWRun software.
- Solid understanding of 4G (LTE) and 5G NR radio technologies, protocols, and RF test metrics.
- Practical knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and use of SPC data to drive process improvements.
- Familiarity with C, C++, ADB commands and Python for test automation, scripting, or tool integration.
- Basic experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand.
- Experience managing equipment calibration programs and working with external calibration/repair vendors.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to mentor technicians and transfer technical skills.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and a knack for identifying and solving problems.
- Strong Excel skills.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in a high-volume mobile device production test environment.
- Experience with automated test frameworks and custom instrument control (ieee488 and TCP/IP).
