Position Title: System-Level Hardware Design Engineer (High-Speed Digital Design)
Location: Onsite in Milpitas, CA at least 4 days a week
Duration: 6-12 months minimum, likely extension
Start Date: ASAP backfilling for a candidate that just resigned unexpectedly

Scope / What's Driving the Need:
Client is seeking an experienced system-level hardware design engineer to join its development team. This role is driven by the need to backfill a recently vacated position. The engineer will contribute to the development of advanced test and measurement products used globally by leading technology companies.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-speed digital circuits at the board and system level.
- Perform circuit simulations using tools such as HSPICE, HyperLynx, ADS, and HFSS.
- Create PCB layout guidelines and coordinate with external layout vendors.
- Conduct board bring-up and collaborate with firmware and logic engineers.
- Develop and execute board and system level test procedures to validate design performance.
- Work with mechanical engineers on product enclosure and sub-assembly designs.
- Support EMC certification activities.
- Develop and run unit characterization, production, and integration tests.
- Provide support to Manufacturing and Customer Support teams.
Necessary Skills:
- 10+ years of system/board-level hardware design experience with high-speed embedded platforms.
- Proficient in high-speed design (>10Gbps) and simulation tools such as HSpice, HyperLynx, etc.
- Deep understanding of high-speed interfaces: PCIe, USB, SAS/SATA, Ethernet.
- Strong knowledge of clock circuit design and jitter/timing analysis.
- Familiarity with schematic entry tools and high-speed measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
- Experience with EMC/EMI mitigation at the PCB/component level.
- Strong system-level development experience with a holistic approach to design.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and support cross-functional initiatives
Preferred Skills : Experience with FPGA logic development.
Education: BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (MS preferred).
