About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Engineering Consultant to support operational risk data integration and delivery initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data pipelines, support analytics and reporting platforms, and lead technical efforts in a highly regulated financial environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Partner with product owners and analytics teams to integrate and enhance data sets in CARAT (Centralized Aggregated Risk and Analytics Tools) and RDS (Risk Data System).
• Monitor and support daily ETL jobs, ensuring data quality and timely delivery.
• Lead the design and implementation of data integration solutions, particularly migrating data from MS SQL Server to Hadoop/Hive platforms.
• Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering or data engineering, demonstrated through work experience, consulting, military service, or education.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Hive, and Big Data technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, and collaboration platforms like Confluence.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering or analytics.
• Experience migrating data from traditional RDBMS (e.g., MS SQL Server) to Big Data platforms (e.g., Hadoop/Hive).
• Cloud certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure) and experience with cloud-based data solutions.
• Familiarity with MongoDB and cloud data migration strategies.
• Prior experience in large financial institutions (e.g., Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase).
• Strong understanding of financial services terminology and regulatory environments.

Soft Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead without direct authority, mentor peers, and drive initiatives independently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Cloud certifications are a strong plus.
