Description

One of Robert Half's government clients is hiring a Technical Writer for a long-term role in Lenexa, KS. This will be an onsite position.

Job Summary

Supports and performs planning design development illustration publication and distribution of basic technical publications including technical procedures and manuals including re-visioning services. Supports balloting process including rework cycles and coordinating with writing team members through final publication of documents onto the web.

Responsibilities

-Frequent interface with various engineering functions technical disciplines and end-users to document standard operating procedures.

-Develop technical materials for use in training operation and system maintenance of Customer equipment using established Customer standards and guidelines.

-Self-directed and also provides guidance to team members on development of multiple publication products.

-Accountability for the cost quality and timely delivery of all work assignments.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience writing technical manuals in a military or civilian environment.

-Understand and comprehend system operation from typical engineering documentation schematics mechanical drawings software specifications hardware interface specifications and equipment specifications.

-Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.

-Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience ex: design UI refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content.

-Knowledge of computer operating systems hardware and software.

-Knowledge using Microsoft Office programs such as: Word PowerPoint Excel.

-Superb written communication skills with a keen eye for detail.

Education: Preferred Associates Degree Required or relevant experience

Acceptable Fields: Engineering Journalism Communications or English

Experience: In lieu of AA at least 4-5 years of relevant experience
