Aerodynamics Engineer (Associate or Experienced)

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is hiring Aerodynamics Engineers (Associate or Experienced) to support our Aero Stability and Control team based in Everett, WA.

As an Aerodynamics Stability and Control Engineer, you will perform analyses to support both airplanes in development and those in service. You will gain an airplane-level perspective of vehicle requirements, aerodynamic performance, and human factors. You will be relied upon as a flight dynamics and handling qualities expert, influencing airplane development, verifying capabilities during flight test programs, and supporting our airline customers who operate our airplanes.

You will have opportunities to interface directly with other disciplines and the Flight Test pilot community, expanding your network and sphere of influence. Utilizing a variety of computational tools and techniques, you will develop solutions to complex problems with competing requirements. You will create and use high-fidelity steady-state and dynamic simulation models to analyze extreme flight conditions. You will be an integral part of ensuring the safety, performance, and efficiency of current and future Boeing Commercial Airplane products.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate (Level 2) and Experienced (Level 3) Aerodynamics Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops and utilizes advanced 6 Degree of Freedom (DOF) aerodynamic flight models.
  • Collects and analyzes data from various aerodynamics testing methods (e.g. flight test, CFD, wind tunnel).
  • Develops and verifies airplane-level flight requirements.
  • Develops control surface and actuation size requirements.
  • Develops documentation to capture design decisions, analysis results, and process improvements.
  • Develops new tools and techniques for improving analytical efficiency.
  • Provides technical guidance during flight testing.
  • Understands and applies FAR part 25 certification requirements for large transport aircraft.
  • Applies understanding of flight physics to advise airplane design decisions.
  • Addresses in-service accidents and incidences related to flight handling qualities.
  • Coordinates with a variety of internal and external customers.
  • Responds to variety of technical challenges.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience working with aerospace engineering principles (Aerodynamics, Airplane performance, or Flight Operations).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamic principles and experience with analysis tools.
  • Minor or strong interest in Computer Science or Mathematics.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
  • Experience working on diverse teams to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Solid understanding of mathematical and statistical methods applied to engineering challenges.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous technical environments effectively.
  • Quick learner with the ability to expand expertise independently or with minimal guidance.

Summary pay range for Associate (Level 2): $81,600 - $110,400

Summary pay range for Experienced (Level 3): $100,300 - $135,700
