We're seeking a DevOps Engineer to help build, automate, and operate reliable infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for modern web applications. You'll work closely with our frontend and backend teams to deploy and scale services on AWS using Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD, with Helm for Kubernetes packaging. You'll also support JavaScript projects (React and Angular) by optimizing build and deployment pipelines.

Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $50 - $75 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab for backend and JavaScript (React/Angular) applications.
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code with Terraform across AWS environments (e.g., VPC, IAM, EC2/EKS, RDS, S3).
  • Containerize applications and optimize Docker images and workflows.
  • Deploy and operate workloads on Kubernetes (EKS), manage Helm charts, and handle releases/rollbacks.
  • Write and maintain Bash scripts to automate build, test, deploy, and operational tasks.
  • Ensure security best practices: IAM least privilege, secrets management, image scanning, and compliance in pipelines.
  • Collaborate with frontend teams on Node/npm build tooling, artifact management, and static asset deployments.
  • Participate in on-call/incident response, perform root cause analysis, and drive reliability improvements.
  • Document infrastructure, runbooks, and deployment processes; contribute to internal tooling.
  • Implement observability: logging, metrics, and alerts with Datadog, Splunk, and cloudwatch (APM, logs, dashboards, alerting).

Experience Requirements:
Must-Have Skills

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Git, Gitlab, AWS, & Linux.
  • A solid understanding of IT infrastructure and networking.
  • Experience writing CI/CD code, configuration management, and bash scripting.
  • An understanding of application flows, TCP/IP networking, and RBAC security.
  • An attitude eager to be coached and to provide wise coaching where possible.
  • A "customer-obsessed" mindset to strive for what best enables our dev teams to succeed and grow.

Ideal candidate non-negotiables & expectations:
  • Has had measurable experience supporting production + development environments
  • AWS or similar cloud tools
  • PowerShell or Bash
  • Linux background preferred
  • Someone familiar with ecommerce platforms/organizations, who understand the vitality of this type of platform for the business
  • Enterprise background or familiar with high automation standards
  • 3 mos into the role: still learning, completing small scale tasks
  • 6 mos into the role: helping senior engineers complete complex tasks like mentioned above.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience writing Python, Go or Nodejs code.
  • Secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault).
  • CDN configuration (CloudFront, Akamai, etc).
  • Experience designing new CI/CD and infrastructure solutions.
  • A passion for complete & concise documentation.
  • Any AWS certifications.
