Location: Jackson, Michigan (Hybrid: Onsite Mon/Tue/Thu; Remote Wed/Fri)
Contract: 12 Months (Opportunity for full time Conversion)
Role Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Senior Redwood Job Scheduler Engineer, where you ll play a key role in supporting and optimizing job scheduling for both SAP and non-SAP applications in a forward-thinking utility company. This hybrid role involves both operational work and active participation in our conversion project from on-premise Redwood to RunMyJobs SaaS, the market-leading cloud-native workload automation platform. You will support end-to-end job orchestration and ensure reliable, scalable process automation across critical utility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain our Redwood job scheduling system for both SAP and non-SAP applications.
Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot jobs using Shell scripting (Linux, Windows), database queries, Java, Perl, Python, and HTTP.
Collaborate with delivery, operations, and IT teams to ensure high reliability and efficiency of background processing.
Participate in the cloud migration project (Redwood on-prem to RunMyJobs SaaS).
Provide technical guidance and mentor junior team members.
Manage and resolve scheduling, dependency, and workflow issues, often in mission-critical utility environments.
Monitor and optimize jobs performance, proactively responding to operational events and job failures.
Perform on-call or after-hours support as needed.
Required Skills
5+ years as a Platform Engineer or Software Engineer in utility, energy, or enterprise IT environments.
In-depth experience with Redwood or similar enterprise job scheduling systems (RunMyJobs, Autosys, Control-M, etc.).
Advanced skills in Java, Linux, Shell scripting, SaaS-based automation solutions, and SQL/database operations.
Programming with Python and/or Perl for workflow automation.
Strong understanding of HTTP, API calls, and workload orchestration.
Familiarity with SAP environments and integration points is a plus.
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and team collaboration skills.
Nice-To-Have
Experience working in the utilities or energy industries.
Demonstrated success with SaaS/cloud platform migrations or automation modernization programs.
Familiarity with low-code job automation and event-driven workflow design.
Background in SAP-specific job scheduling and integrations.
Work Setup
Hybrid work arrangement: Onsite in Jackson, MI on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; remote on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Willingness to participate in after-hours or critical job support when needed.
