About the Role

An established and mission-driven public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to lead nonprofit client engagements from start to finish. This is a hands-on role where you ll work closely with partners, guide staff, and build meaningful relationships with purpose-driven organizations. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead audits from planning through wrap-up for a diverse portfolio of not-for-profit clients including charitable organizations, foundations, and associations
  • Supervise and mentor audit seniors and associates, promoting a culture of learning and growth
  • Review and approve workpapers, financial statements, and reports for GAAS compliance and adherence to not-for-profit standards (FASB ASC 958)
  • Advise clients year-round on accounting issues, internal controls, and industry best practices
  • Build long-term client relationships and act as a trusted advisor beyond audit periods
  • Support business development by preparing proposals, attending networking events, and participating in recruiting and public presentations
  • Contribute to internal firm initiatives like training, diversity and inclusion, and departmental development
  • Attend industry conferences and continuing-education events alongside firm leadership

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of recent public accounting audit experience, including at least 2 years of staff supervision
  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAS and not-for-profit accounting standards (FASB ASC 958)
  • Strong experience conducting not-for-profit audits; exposure to Uniform Guidance / Single Audits preferred
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with audit and accounting tools such as CaseWare, ProSystem fx, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Seattle area to work on-site and engage with local clients

Required Skills

  • Active CPA license
  • Public accounting audit experience
  • Strong command of GAAS and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Strong leadership and client-facing communication skills
  • Proficiency in audit and accounting platforms

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Uniform Guidance / Single Audits
  • Background in mentoring and leading engagement teams
