Role Overview

State of Texas is seeking a Senior Accessibility Engineer with a strong Business Analyst foundation and deep accessibility expertise. This role requires hands-on experience applying ADA & WCAG standards across the full SDLC to ensure digital accessibility compliance.

You will play a key role in collaborating with ITS Leadership and the Agency Accessibility Coordinator to support compliance with DOJ ADA Title II, federal, and Texas state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure business requirements explicitly include accessibility needs
  • Analyze web content and Electronic Information Resources (EIR) for accessibility compliance
  • Recommend remediation strategies aligned with ADA & WCAG 2.1 Level AA
  • Participate in and support accessibility testing and validation efforts
  • Provide testing results and reports to the Agency Accessibility Coordinator
  • Perform preliminary accessibility assessments with internal and external partners
  • Ensure accessibility is embedded from design through testing

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Strong Business Analyst (BA) background with accessibility focus

Hands-on experience applying ADA / WCAG compliance in real-world projects

Any ADA or WCAG Certification – MUST

<>Knowledge of:</>
  • Texas Administrative Code
  • Texas DIR EIR Accessibility Policy
  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA

Experience assessing web content and EIR for accessibility remediation

Knowledge of accessibility testing, validation practices, and methodologies

Strong experience in:

Requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation

Bridging business requirements with technical accessibility solutions

Proficiency with Microsoft tools:

  • SharePoint

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate:
  • Solid BA fundamentals
  • Proven accessibility implementation experience
  • Formal accessibility certification(s)
  • Ability to translate compliance needs into actionable technical solutions
