About the job
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimise data models (canonical, integration, data warehouse, and data marts).
Define and manage data architecture for healthcare transactions (claims, members, providers, enrolment, etc.).
Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements.
Create scalable, standardised models to support analytics and reporting layers
Ensure data integrity, stability, and security across databases.
Establish and enforce data modeling standards and best practices.
Create and maintain metadata management and data governance.
Integrate models with external systems/databases using HL7, X12, 5010 standards where relevant
Optimize and tune data models for performance.
Support database administrators and engineers in ongoing database tasks.
Conduct data model reviews and provide feedback for improvement.
Document and communicate data models and their specifications.
Use data modeling tools and software for model creation and management.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to keep data models updated.
Communicate and articulate modelling decisions to both technical and business stakeholders.
Ensure models support compliance and regulatory requirements for healthcare data.
Required Skills
Deep understanding of healthcare domain (claims, eligibility, enrolment, providers, members).
Hands-on experience with data warehouse design, integration models, and data marts.
Strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems like Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
Strong SQL, ER modelling, and conceptual/logical/physical model creation.
Experience with data modeling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, or PowerDesigner
Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark.
Familiarity with cloud-based data services such as AWS or Azure.
Familiarity with industry standards (HL7, X12, FHIR is a plus).
Background in data governance and data quality concepts.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills to defend and explain modelling choices.
Experience in Agile or Scrum environments.
Strong experience in healthcare data modelling
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Several years of experience in data modeling or related roles.
Proficiency in data modeling techniques and methodologies.
Experience in designing and implementing complex data models.
Knowledge of ETL processes and data integration.
Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to translate business requirements into data models.
Capability to work independently and in a team environment.
