Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive LAN Administrator to support their customers’ IT environments. This role is home-based and remote, based in the Akron area, providing Tier 2 support with occasional onsite visits when issues cannot be resolved over the phone. The LAN Administrator will support customers across Akron, Canton, and Cleveland and will need to pick up equipment from the Richfield, OH depot when going onsite to resolve issues. Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with IRS guidelines.
Candidates must be local to the Cleveland, Akron, Canton, or Richfield, Ohio area.
The ideal candidate is hands-on with networking and end-user support, communicates effectively with customers, and can balance independent troubleshooting with collaborative problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Tier 2 technical support remotely and onsite as needed.
Install, configure, and maintain LAN hardware/software (routers, switches, firewalls, cabling).
Set up and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
Manage Active Directory accounts, permissions, and group policies.
Use a ticketing system to document, track, and resolve customer incidents.
Monitor network performance, resolve connectivity issues, and apply security best practices.
Collaborate with senior engineers on upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
Document procedures and provide customer guidance/training on IT issues.
Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as a LAN Administrator, Systems Administrator, or Tier 2 Support Technician.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and networking protocols.
Hands-on experience with hardware such as Sonicwall, Aruba, Cisco, etc.
Proficiency with Windows operating systems and business applications.
Experience with Active Directory and basic domain administration.
Excellent troubleshooting and customer-facing communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for onsite visits across Akron, Canton, and Cleveland.
Must be based locally in the Cleveland, Akron, Canton, or Richfield, OH area.
