Job Details
Apptech Group is seeking a Senior Active Directory Administrator to join our team in support of a large-scale state technology modernization initiative.
This role will focus on performing updates, automation, and optimization tasks within the existing Active Directory (AD) environment, working collaboratively with the state s infrastructure and server teams.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AD automation tools such as ADManager and Varonis, and a strong understanding of security, permissions management, and remediation processes in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily updates, maintenance, and administrative tasks in the existing Active Directory environment under the direction of the Senior AD Administrator and Server Team.
- Support the implementation and completion of ADManager automation workflows, streamlining group management, user provisioning, and deprovisioning processes.
- Assist in transitioning to personnel position based permissions and group memberships, ensuring consistent and policy-aligned access management.
- Support application remediation activities related to AD dependencies and access control configurations.
- Utilize Varonis and ADManager tools to review, analyze, and recommend changes to group properties, security permissions, and usage patterns.
- Document AD structure, workflows, and process improvements to support ongoing maintenance and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure Active Directory policies meet organizational standards and best practices.
- Support server and infrastructure teams with user access, authentication, and directory-related troubleshooting.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Active Directory administration within large or government enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise with ADManager Plus, Varonis, and other directory automation or auditing tools.
- Experience with group policy management, organizational units (OUs), role-based access control (RBAC), and directory automation scripting (PowerShell preferred).
- Familiarity with application remediation and dependency resolution involving AD-integrated systems.
- Understanding of identity and access management (IAM) best practices, security principles, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote team environment under structured direction.
