We are seeking a visionary engineering leader to take on the role of Associate Director - Project Engineering for our Engine Control Systems - Small Commercial Engines (SCE) Programs. In this high-impact, strategic position, you will lead the complete engineering lifecycle from early proposal and concept development through design, qualification, production, and in-service support-for a cutting-edge portfolio of propulsion control technologies used in small aircraft.

This is more than a leadership role it's an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace systems. You'll define and drive the technical strategy across a suite of high-performance products, including electronic and mechanical fuel controls, pumps, gearboxes, starters, sensors, harnesses, valves, coolers, and nozzles-ensuring excellence in performance, reliability, and customer value.

You'll champion an evolutionary approach to product development, embedding continuous improvement, iterative design, and phased deployment into the way we deliver innovation. Your work will directly influence our ability to meet the demanding needs of modern aviation while positioning our technologies for long-term success in a rapidly evolving industry.

What You Will Do

  • Leading end-to-end engineering execution for multiple programs and product lines, including electronic engine controls, mechanical fuel controls, pumps, gearboxes, starters, sensors, harnesses, valves, coolers, and nozzles-ensuring technical excellence and delivery across the full product lifecycle.

  • Hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of Program Chiefs and technical leaders to support current and future program needs.

  • Establishing and maintaining the organizational structure, tools, processes, and resources necessary to meet product requirements and program commitments across cost, schedule, and quality dimensions.

  • Driving efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability within the engineering organization by improving workflows, building capabilities, and optimizing resource utilization across the value stream.

  • Serving as the primary engineering interface to internal and external customers throughout the lifecycle of the product-acting as a key technical leader, advocate, and point of escalation.

  • Maintaining strong customer partnerships and leveraging your professional network to remove obstacles, align priorities, and resolve conflicts that may impact program execution.

  • Owning the strategic financial planning and technology/product roadmaps for the SCE value stream-ensuring that current and future offerings align with customer needs, market trends, and business goals.

  • Championing evolutionary product development and production strategies, including phased implementation, iterative design, and continuous improvement to maintain competitive edge in the aerospace sector.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 10+ years of engineering experience in aerospace or similarly complex, safety-critical industries, with at least 5 years in technical leadership or management role.

  • Proven success leading cross-functional engineering teams through the full product lifecycle-from proposal and concept to production and service.

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization and represent engineering with internal and external customers.

  • Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), budgeting, and resource planning in support of large, multi-phase programs.

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
