Mainframe zOS DB2 Database Administrator
Duration: Long Term
Location: Hybrid in Client hub location
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, JIRA, ServiceNow and Gitlab/Github productivity tools. Additional recommended skills in DB2 database schema design, SQL tuning and database administration tools BMC and IBM.
Is this a remote position? If not, what Client locations can a resource work and how many days a week will they be required to work onsite?
- Any Client major market HUB location, minimum of 3 days per week
Can you please provide a summary of the project/initiatives which describes what s being done?
- This resource will be assigned work requests and provide database support for DB2 database activities defined as required for the ICS Project PERU initiative and ICS Modernization efforts
What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position? (Please be detailed as to what the candidate is expected to do or complete on a daily basis)
- Proper and timely use of productivity tools including Microsoft Teams/Outlook, JIRA, ServiceNow and Clarity
- Implement efficient and performant database schema designs
- Timely identification and resolution of database issues
- Assist with problem resolution with application process and SQL
- Attend regular database and applications group meetings as needed
What skills/technologies are required (please include the number of years of experience required)?
- DB2 database schema planning, design and implementation 3to5 years
- Implement database utility jobs 3to5 years
- Monitor database performance 3to5 years
- Assist with SQL query optimization and tuning 3to5 years
- Respond to and correct database incidents and problems 3to5 years
What skills/attributes are preferred (these are a desired, not required)?
- Application delivery process (such as Gitlab/Github)
- Information and data management
- Familiarity with z/OS Mainframe, CICS/MQ, EMC/Dell & IBM storage concepts

Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator: Interpersonal communication skills sufficient to effectively interact with customer staff and other contract personnel. Technical writing skills to document work performed and maintenance instructions. Provides performance monitoring and tuning. Skills: Experienced in the set-up and maintenance of one or more of the following database systems in a Mainframe z/OS operating systems environment: DB2. Database experience consists of creating table space areas, tables and views, logical and physical database design. Knowledge about monitoring and performance improvements. Knowledge of database maintenance procedures including Load, Reorg, Imagecopy, Runstats, Recovery. Proficient in the internals of a large-scale operating system. Knowledge of interface with Cobol and Java programming languages.
