Business Consultant - Fixed Income
Client: Big 5 Bank
Location: Downtown NYC. Hybrid: 3 days in office/week
Duration of Contract/Perm: 6 months contract with strong potential for extension or conversion.
Hours/week: 37.5 hrs/wk. 9-5 PM, M-F
Start date: early August 2025
Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Business Systems Analyst / Consultant to support the Fixed Income and US Treasury Line of Business, with a strong focus on Swaps and E-Trading. This role is ideal for someone who excels at identifying business growth opportunities, assessing performance, and driving strategic improvements - without being involved in day-to-day production support.
The ideal candidate will have deep capital markets experience, particularly in electronic trading, and a proven ability to engage with front office teams, gather requirements, and deliver actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Consulting & Assessment:
Conduct business assessments to identify areas for growth, performance improvement, and operational efficiency across Fixed Income and E-Trading platforms.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Book and lead meetings with the US desk and other business units to understand goals, pain points, and define next steps.
Requirements Gathering & Analysis:
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather detailed business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
Solution Design & Roadmapping:
Propose and document technology and process improvements aligned with business objectives.
Communication & Influence:
Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on priorities.
Vendor & Data Flow Coordination:
Oversee data flows between systems and coordinate with vendors for solution deployment and integration.
Trading Application Expertise:
Provide insights and support for trading applications and integrations with venues such as Tradeweb and MarketAxess.
Key Skills & Experience:
Fixed Income Expertise:
Minimum 5 years of experience in Fixed Income, with strong knowledge of swaps pricing, US Treasuries, and bond markets.
E-Trading Knowledge:
Familiarity with electronic trading workflows and platforms.
Analytical & Strategic Thinking:
Ability to identify performance issues and recommend remediation strategies.
Business Growth Mindset:
Experience in identifying and driving business expansion opportunities.
Front Office Collaboration:
Proven ability to work closely with trading desks and understand front office priorities.
Technical Proficiency:
Trading Platforms:
Hands-on experience with TOMS, Broadway, Bloomberg, Market Wire, Tradeweb, and MarketAxess.
Documentation & Testing:
Skilled in maintaining documentation and validating system changes against business requirements.
