Job Summary

Verizon is seeking a skilled Java Developer with around 5 years of hands-on experience to join our development team in Irving, TX. The ideal candidate will design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable applications that support critical business platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions aligned with Verizon s technology and innovation goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based backend services and enterprise applications.

  • Build scalable APIs and microservices using Spring / Spring Boot frameworks.

  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.

  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.

  • Implement secure, tested, and optimized code following Verizon engineering standards.

  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and QA teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability.

  • Support production applications and troubleshoot issues when required.

  • Contribute to CI/CD processes using Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle, and automated testing frameworks.

  • Work in Agile/Scrum environments and participate in sprint planning and daily stand-ups.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of professional Java development experience.

  • Strong expertise in Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and RESTful services.

  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Dockers/Kubernetes preferred).

  • Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure (AWS preferred).

  • Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and best coding practices.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools: Git, Jenkins, Maven/Gradle.

  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance tuning skills.
