Data Engineering Lead

Duration: 12+ Months

Location: Canada (Remote)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Data Engineering Lead to lead the design and development of data solutions supporting commercial pharmaceutical data initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in cloud data platforms, ETL processes, and Life sciences data sets, with the ability to work independently and coordinate with offshore teams. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, client-facing experience, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business insights. This position is a full time position, and the successful candidate will work up to 40 hours per week on the distribution of work below:

  • Technical Solution Design 50%
  • Data Warehousing and Data Analytics development 20%
  • Client proposals/Internal initiatives improving IQVIA s capabilities in the space 20%
  • Project management and delivery 10%

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable data engineering/data management solutions using Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, and Python
  • Leverage prior experience in ETL and cloud-based technologies to design, deliver and manage operations for data-warehousing solution and data analytics/MDM products for IM team
  • Work closely with the business and IT teams during requirements and design phases of the project and be the primary point of project contact
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including offshore resources, to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Architect and implement cloud-based data platforms on AWS and Azure
  • Work with commercial pharma data sets such as Veeva, IQVIA, Symphony, etc.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with industry standards
  • Engage with clients to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Explore and integrate AI/ML capabilities where applicable to enhance data insights
  • Support leadership teams in strategizing and planning growth in this space
  • Support BI initiatives and reporting needs as required

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A relevant bachelor s degree in any of Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, etc
  • 12+ years of prior work experience in designing/leading implementation for Data Warehousing and Data Analytical/MDM projects
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineering Lead or ETL Lead in a commercial pharma environment
  • Strong passion for data and technology with the aspiration to work in consulting
  • Strong understanding of pharma commercial data sets and their applications
  • Experienced with working on AWS, Azure and other cloud-based platforms is must
  • MUST HAVE: STRONG SQL, Data Warehouse Concept, Python, Azure, Databricks
  • AWS concepts, Version Control (Git), Distributed Compute , Spark.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Orchestration Tools e.g. Airflow, Informatica, Automic
  • Experience with MDM products like Reltio, Informatica
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills with Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to build strong relationship with internal team members
  • 20% travel required to customer locations anywhere in North America

Additional skills/Good to have:

  • Exposure to AI/ML technologies is a plus
