Role: SAP Datasphere Expert / Lead Consultant

Location: NC/Remote


Role Overview

The SAP Datasphere Expert will play a key role in the design, implementation, and optimization of SAP Datasphere as part of an SAP S/4HANA and analytics transformation program. The role focuses on building a governed, scalable data foundation that integrates SAP and non-SAP data sources while preserving business semantics for analytics and reporting.


Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Architecture

  • Design end-to-end SAP Datasphere architecture aligned with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP BTP
  • Define data integration, modeling, and consumption strategies
  • Ensure preservation of SAP business context and semantics

Data Integration & Provisioning

  • Configure and manage connections to SAP and non-SAP systems
  • Implement:
    • Replication Flows
    • Data Flows (ETL / ELT)
    • Remote Tables and federated access
  • Set up and manage SAP Cloud Connector and SDI DP Agents
  • Optimize data loads (delta, real-time, batch)

Data Modeling & Semantic Layer

  • Build data models using Data Builder (graphical and SQL)
  • Create reusable, business-oriented models using Business Builder
  • Design analytical datasets optimized for reporting and planning
  • Manage space-based modeling and data sharing

Analytics & Consumption

  • Integrate SAP Datasphere with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)
  • Enable consumption via OData, JDBC/ODBC, or other BI tools
  • Support reporting, dashboards, and planning use cases

Governance, Security & Performance

  • Implement role-based security, space isolation, and access controls
  • Apply data governance, lineage, and catalog best practices
  • Monitor performance and optimize models and queries
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise data standards

Project & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with functional SAP teams (Finance, Supply Chain, HR)
  • Work with data engineers, architects, and business analysts
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring
  • Support testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization


Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP Datasphere, expertise in handling complex Data structure
  • Solid knowledge of SAP HANA Cloud
  • Proficiency in SQL / SQL Script
  • Experience with:
    • SAP S/4HANA data models
    • SAP BW / BW/4HANA (model transfer is a plus)
    • SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Understanding of cloud data warehousing concepts
  • Experience with hybrid (on-prem + cloud) landscapes

Functional & Analytical Skills

  • Strong understanding of business domains (Finance preferred)
  • Ability to translate business requirements into data models
  • Experience designing analytics-ready datasets


Nice-to-Have Skills

  • SAP Data Intelligence or SAP Integration Suite
  • Knowledge of non-SAP BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra)
  • Exposure to streaming or real-time data integration
  • SAP BTP services experience


Experience & Qualifications

  • over 12+ years in SAP data, analytics, or data warehousing roles
  • 3+ years hands-on with SAP Datasphere or SAP Data Warehouse Cloud
  • SAP certifications in Datasphere, HANA, or Analytics (preferred)
  • Experience in at least two full SAP implementation lifecycle
