Node.js Tech Lead

Role: Node.js Tech Lead
Location: Chicago, Dallas, and New York (Onsite)
Duration: 6+ months contract

Job Description:
Looking for a hands-on Node.js Tech Lead to design, build, and deliver microservices using Node.js and TypeScript. The role is 70% coding, 30% leadership, focused on building scalable APIs and managing production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain domain-driven, event-based microservices in Node.js/TypeScript (Express/Fastify/NestJS)
• Define API standards, design REST APIs, and manage CI/CD and observability
• Handle production readiness (dashboards, alerts, incident triage, RCA)
• Collaborate with multiple teams (Web, Mobile, Data, Security, Ops)
• Lead code reviews, mentor developers, and ensure best practices
• Proactively communicate status, risks, and dependencies with leadership

Tech Stack

• Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, Express/Fastify/NestJS
• APIs: REST, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, Swagger/OpenAPI
• Database: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB/DynamoDB, Redis
• Messaging: Kafka / RabbitMQ
• Cloud & Infra: AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform/CloudFormation
• CI/CD & Monitoring: Jenkins/GitHub Actions, ELK, Datadog, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry

Must Have

• Deep hands-on Node.js/TypeScript experience
• Strong knowledge of microservice patterns (DDD, saga, circuit breaker, etc.)
• Cloud-native deployment experience with Kubernetes
• Good understanding of authentication, security, and scalability

Nice to Have

• Telecom domain experience (ordering, provisioning, billing, identity)
• API Gateway (Apigee/Kong) exposure
• Cloud performance and cost optimization
