Job Title: Cybersecurity Analyst
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Duration: 5 Months

Job Summary

Seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to perform critical information security services, including vulnerability management, security and event monitoring, threat evaluation, risk management, incident response, and compliance activities. This role is responsible for the operation of various security-related applications, reviewing system architecture submissions, conducting risk-based analysis, and participating in DevSecOps processes and compliance initiatives. Candidates may also be expected to participate in a 24x7 operational rotation as a member of the network and security operations center staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform compliance activities and audits, including policy and process reviews, and third-party security audits.

  • Monitor, configure, and operate enterprise-class anti-viranti-malware systems, including policies, scanning, and remediation activities.

  • Conduct and participate in cybersecurity investigations and incident response.

  • Evaluate applications and IT infrastructure for risk and threat assessment.

  • Assess vulnerability and threat intelligence to prioritize mitigations based on risk.

  • Participate in DevSecOps processes, applying threat modeling, testing methodologies, and secure programming practices.

  • Support 24x7 operational rotation within the security operations center as needed.

  • Install, test, and troubleshoot system software/hardware to maintain or enhance IT systems and ensure connectivity and integration.

  • Collaborate with IT professionals to plan and administer projects, ensuring timely delivery.

  • Provide technical guidance to management on software/hardware capabilities, limitations, and costs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure around-the-clock system availability.

  • Train and mentor junior staff, and coordinate with peers to optimize system performance.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and principles.

  • Experience with compliance activities and audits (policy/process reviews, third-party audits).

  • Familiarity with HIPAA, CJIS, Virginia CDPA, and other state/federal privacy regulations.

  • Experience monitoring and operating SIEM applications.

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-class anti-viranti-malware tools (policy, scanning, remediation).

  • Experience in cybersecurity incident response and investigations.

  • Understanding of database, network, virtualization, and OT operations concepts.

  • Experience in evaluating applications and IT infrastructure for risk and threat assessment.

  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Ability to assess vulnerability and threat intelligence for mitigation prioritization.

  • Experience participating in DevSecOps processes.

  • Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework and ISO 27001 Framework.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline preferred.

  • 1+ years experience in networking, programming, IT infrastructure, or related discipline.

  • 3+ years experience in cybersecurity risk management, compliance, or threat management.

  • One or more relevant certifications: Security+, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, GSEC, CISSP.
