Experienced Software Engineer - Systems

The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Software Engineer - Systems to join the Space Battle Management, Command and Control (SBMC2) team located in Colorado Springs, CO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The Software Engineer will perform as part of a high-performing team and have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of innovative software solutions in an agile software development environment interfacing with internal and external stakeholders; to include a Joint Industry partnership Team (JIPT) and Working Groups, contributing to the design and development of next generation ground command and control capabilities.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Support definition of requirements, interfaces, and concept of operations through supporting and/or chairing working group meetings
  • Understand and communicate prioritization of efforts to multi-disciplinary team
  • Perform technical analyses to develop and validate models of system behavior; identify solutions to complex problems
  • Serve as a direct interface to both internal and external customers
  • Work in an industry consortium with diverse viewpoints
  • Completes software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues and opportunities; integrates and deploys mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle
  • Performs code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards
  • Develop user documentation and training to educate end users about usage of software products

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • 2 or more years of experience with Agile software development
  • 2 or more years of experience with software development, systems architecture, programming
  • 2 or more years of experience with object-oriented design and implementation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Multi-discipline technical knowledge of complex systems and systems of systems
  • 2 or more years of experience with software development incorporating Government or Industry standards
  • 2 or more years of experience with XML Schemas
  • Experience coding in Java and JavaScript
  • 2 or more years of experience working in working in an Agile Environment utilizing Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or similar tools
  • Experience with open architecture development
  • Experience with system architecture analysis
  • Experience with implementing and/or proposing changes to government standards (Open Mission Systems (OMS), Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI) or other)
  • Experience developing adapters based on the Open Mission Systems (OMS) Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI) standards
  • Experience with Spacecraft modeling and optimization algorithm design and implementation
