Notes From Conversation with Hiring Manager:

Summary:

This role is closer to an Enterprise(ish) Architect than a truly specialized ALIP Architect. It has themes of enterprise architecture, but this person will serve a dotted line to 3 Specialized ALIP Solutions architects and will connect all of the solutions they're driving to the larger Allianz business. Ultimately, it's a broader solutions architect. It's a net new role and this was identified as a gap; this person will spend time determining what solutions make sense to integrate into ALIP and looking at the broader ecosystem at Allianz to see if there's a better place for that solution to sit. Perfect candidate has been in an enterprise architect role, or solutions architect role where the business domain was life and annuities, extra points if they have an ALIP background/exposure. Doesn't have to be ALIP.

Role Overview

Position Type: Net new role, created to fill a gap identified by Enterprise Architecture.

Nature of Role: Hybrid Enterprise + Solution Architect focused on Life & Annuity (L&A) policy administration capabilities.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Cathy; dotted-line leadership over 3 existing ALIP capability architects.

Location: Fully remote option available.

Contract: 6-month contract-to-hire.

Core Responsibilities

Own end-to-end architecture for L&A policy administration capability (ALIP preferred but not required).

Act as a bridge between technical architects and enterprise architecture, ensuring alignment with broader business and technology strategy.

Shape 3-5 year capability roadmaps and provide hands-on technical direction for complex projects.

Determine what belongs in ALIP versus workflows and evaluate integration across Allianz's ecosystem.

Mentor and guide 3 highly technical ALIP-focused architects; set architectural standards and guardrails, determine what makes sense to integrate into ALIP.

Partner with Enterprise Architecture on modernization, cloud strategy (Azure, possibly AWS), and AI adoption.

Drive capability maturity: operational efficiency, platform evolution, technical debt reduction, and simplification.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Background: Senior-level Enterprise or Solution Architect with strong Life & Annuity domain expertise.

Technical Skills: Broad technical capabilities, integration knowledge, and exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred).

Business Acumen: Ability to understand business processes and translate them into scalable technical solutions through lens of Annuity and Life insurance lens.

Preferred Experience: ALIP exposure is a plus but not mandatory; other L&A platforms acceptable. Guidewire/P&C experience is not ideal.

Soft Skills: Excellent communication, fresh thought leadership, and ability to collaborate across business and technical teams.

Additional Notes

Interview process: Cathy (HM) ? Kristen ? Enterprise Architects +Executive

Role is closer to Enterprise Architect than a specialized ALIP architect.

Focus on Life & Annuity claims and processes, which differ significantly from standard insurance.

Open to candidates outside local geography.
